Nathan Oystrick (born December 17, 1982 in Regina , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with HC Lev Prague from the Continental Hockey League .
Career
Nathan Oystrick was named 198th overall player by the Atlanta Thrashers during the 2002 NHL Entry Draft . However, he spent the next four years in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association as a player at Northern Michigan University . During this time he was appointed to the CCHA All-Star Team twice and was named best defender in 2005.
At the end of the 2005/06 season Oystrick was first appointed to the farm team of the Thrashers, the Chicago Wolves , and made his debut in professional ice hockey. The following two seasons Oystrick was a regular player in the American Hockey League , each with 80 appearances in the regular season. In the latter, he won the Calder Cup with the Wolves .
Oystrick made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Thrashers on October 14, 2008 in the game against the Minnesota Wild .
In March 2010 it was given to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Yevgeny Artyuchin . In July of that year, Oystrick signed as a free agent with the St. Louis Blues . After his contract with the Blues expired, the free agent agreed on July 6, 2011 on a contract for one year with the Phoenix Coyotes , who used the defender in their AHL farm team, the Portland Pirates . In June 2012 the Canadian was signed by HC Lev Prague from the Continental Hockey League and reached the play-off final with HC Lev 2014.
