The Los Nevados National Park ( Spanish Parque Nacional Natural los Nevados ) is a protected area in the Central Cordillera in Colombia . It was designated in 1974 and is 380 km² in size. The park extends over the Departamentos Departamento de Caldas , Quindío , Risaralda and Tolima and lies in the territory of the municipalities of Manizales , Villamaría , Santa Rosa de Cabal , Pereira , Salento , Villahermosa , Anzoátegui , Santa Isabel , Murillo , Ibagué and Casabianca . It is part of the Andes , its glaciers feed rivers, lakes and other wetlands in the area.

There are hot springs, lakes and a waterfall to see. One of the highlights of the third most visited park in Colombia is the 5300 meter high Nevado del Ruiz volcano . Another seven volcanoes are in the area. Another attraction is Lake Otún, which consists of glacial meltwater and where you can see some endangered species of birds. You should not cross the park alone, a tour guide is required. Sleep options and meals are usually included in the tours.
