The Val d'Agri National Park ( Italian Parco nazionale dell'Appennino Lucano Val d'Agri - Lagonegrese ) extends over an area of almost 690 km² in the Italian province of Potenza . In addition to man-made historical sites and industrial monuments, the national park is home to an extensive beech forest near Moliterno and prominent mountain landscapes. The Agri rises in the Serra di Calvello mountain range near Marsico Nuovo and is dammed south of Montemurro by a dam, where it forms the Lago del Pertusillo reservoir in the national park.

The national park is one of the youngest nature reserves in Italy and was established in 2006. In addition to otters , martens , peregrine falcons and white storks , wolves and European wild cats also live in the park .
