The Gennargentu National Park (also National Park Gulf of Orosei and Gennargentu ) ( Italian : Parco Nazionale del Golfo di Orosei e del Gennargentu ) is a national park in Italy . It is located in the east of Sardinia in the eponymous Gennargentu Mountains and on the Gulf of Orosei .
The park is one of the youngest of the 24 areas with national park status in Italy and was established in 1998. Climatically, the park covers both alpine and Mediterranean conditions. There is a high diversity of fauna in the park (orchids, lilies, cyclamen, crocuses); here the currant Ribes Sardorum , which occurs in Europe only in the Gennargentu, is found . The oldest holm oaks in Europe ( Quercus ilex ) can be found in the Supramonte . In the park live the birds and mammals typical of Sardinia, such as u. a. Wild sheep and golden eagles ( Aquila chrysaetos ) .
