action

In the year 2080, cyborgs will populate the earth alongside humans . They largely replace the human workforce and are programmed to serve their owners. However, each of these cyborgs has a strictly limited lifespan, a kind of "best before date". When their time is up, they are eliminated. The police officer R is a member of the special unit Task Force MP, which specializes in eliminating defective cyborgs. Due to minor errors in the system, some robots suddenly develop a life of their own. This is how Cyper, one of these defective cyborgs, learns of the invention of the scientist Dr. Croy, which enables robots to implant chips in humans. R fell in love with a cyborg named Ria, but unfortunately her expiration date is only a few days in the future. R and Cyper hunt down the prostitute Cyon, because her human body can serve as a substitute for Ria and Cyper due to her DNA. Cyper raids the control room of a scientific complex and kills all the scientists present. There he tries to take over the body of Cyon he kidnapped. The task force's attempt to storm the building fails because Cyper uses the reprogrammed MP combat cyborgs, which are vastly superior to the special unit. The building's self-destruct mechanism is activated to stop Cyper's plans. Before the complex explodes, R manages to kill Cyper and free Cyon. R asks Cyon to bury Ria because he had to leave her alone. R himself remains behind and waits for the research complex to self-destruct in order to find his death in this way.

Reviews

"Elaborately styled science fiction film with undisguised references to the genre milestone Blade Runner , who suffers from the less sophisticated characters, whose motivations are only hinted at."
