The association Naturpark Spessart e. V. is the sponsor of the nature park of the same name in Bavaria . The association is based in Aschaffenburg .

The members of the association include the three districts of Main-Spessart , Aschaffenburg and Miltenberg , as well as the independent city of Aschaffenburg , 71 municipalities , 28 companies and 96 private members. The office and the information center of the association are located in Gemünden am Main . The seat is in Aschaffenburg.

The association has a common statute and fulfills various tasks defined by the Federal Nature Conservation Act (BNatSchG) in the areas of environmental education , nature and culture protection.

history

Large parts of the Spessart were designated as a landscape protection area at the end of the 1950s. In 1960 the Bavarian State Ministry gave the region the status of the first nature park in Bavaria. In order to distribute the federal funds for the promotion of nature parks, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture requested an overall development plan for the Spessart Nature Park. The government of Lower Franconia was commissioned in March 1961 to draw up such an overall development plan. The Nature Park Spessart eV was founded on October 31, 1963 to take care of the new protected area. The non-profit association officially took over the function of the nature park sponsor. Initially, the focus was on the creation of leisure and recreational facilities, later fields of work such as nature conservation and environmental education were added. For several years now, the nature park association has been increasingly involved in sustainable regional development - e.g. B. with the establishment of a marketing initiative for pasture meat.

The first entry in the register of associations at the Aschaffenburg District Court took place on January 3, 1964. In the course of the regional reform in 1972, the former districts of Alzenau , Gemünden , Lohr , Marktheidenfeld and Obernburg were dissolved. Since then, the nature park has consisted of the three districts of Main-Spessart , Aschaffenburg and Miltenberg , as well as 71 other municipalities. Members also include 28 companies and institutions from the region as well as 96 private individuals, including many nature park guides.

The current information center of the Spessart Nature Park is located in the Huttenschloß in Gemünden am Main.

purpose

According to the association's statutes as amended by the general meeting on July 17, 2003:

“The association wants to promote the Spessart Nature Park in cooperation with all interested parties as part of the general state planning with the aim of preserving and caring for the landscape in this area, which is particularly suitable as a recreation area, of protecting the local flora and fauna and taking appropriate measures to enable recreation close to nature. "

tasks and goals

For the nature park, the association Naturpark Spessart e. V. following tasks:

Protection, care and maintenance of nature and the landscape
Preservation of the characteristic cultural landscape
Promotion of sustainable use, marketing of regional products and strengthening of regional identity
Preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage, preservation of architectural and soil monuments as well as further development of the settlement and building culture
Securing landscape-related recreation and environmentally and socially compatible tourism
Conservation of natural resources
Cooperation with municipalities, authorities and private organizations
Environmental education, information and public relations
Creation and maintenance of facilities for recreational use and visitor guidance

Hessian partner

On the Hessian side, the Hessian Spessart Nature Park is looked after by the association of the same name. There is close cooperation, especially in transnational projects such as the grassland project, the training of nature park guides and the publication of the annual program.
