The Spessartbund e. V. 1913 ( SB for short ) is a non-profit association that has set itself the task of promoting hiking for everyone. The association is entered in the register of associations of the Aschaffenburg district court (VR 118). He is a member of the Association of German Mountain and Hiking Clubs e. V. and its regional associations in Bavaria and Hesse . The Spessart Nature Park is the focus of the association's work.

The catchment area is the core area of ​​the Spessart Nature Park in the Mainviereck between Lohr, Wertheim, Miltenberg and Aschaffenburg and extends from Würzburg to Frankfurt and from Bad Orb to Tauberbischofsheim.

history

The medical student Karl Kihn from Michelbach founded the Freigerichter Bund association on October 2, 1876 . In the following years other clubs were formed u. a. in Aschaffenburg, Frankfurt, Hanau, Lohr and Marktheidenfeld. Many branches of these associations were formed throughout the Spessart. In 1912, seven associations formed a working group and in 1913 founded the Spessartbund in Hanau . The entry in the register of associations takes place on September 13, 1927. Later, he joined the Verband Deutscher Gebirgs- und Wandervereine e. V.

structure

The association is divided into 12 districts with a total of 100 local groups, with one district containing up to 15 local groups.

There are departments for hiking , holiday hiking , youth and family work , culture , public relations , paths and nature conservation .

aims

The purpose of the association is to promote hiking for everyone, youth and family work , nature conservation and landscape maintenance, the promotion, maintenance and preservation of cultural values, the creation and supervision of hiking trails and huts and the issuing of hiking maps .

Others

The association operates 48 refuges and hikers' homes, six of which offer overnight accommodation. There are also 15 tent sites.
