Hengstberg nature reserve

The Hengstberg nature reserve with a size of 4.1 hectares is located east of Oberlandenbeck in the municipality of Eslohe . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Eslohe landscape plan .

Area description

Old European beech population with rocks up to 10 m high. Part of the historic Kriegerweg path, deeply cut into the ravine . The big rocks are rich in moss.

Protection purpose

Protection of beech trees with great structural diversity. Securing the historic ravine.
