Neemrana or Nimrana ( Hindi नीमराना ) is a small town with around 9,000 inhabitants in the Alwar district in the northeast of the Indian state of Rajasthan .
Location and climate
The small town of Neemrana is located in the Ahirwal region about halfway between the megacities of Jaipur and Delhi (each about 155 km) at an altitude of about 330 m . The climate is mostly dry and warm; Rain (approx. 550 mm / year) falls almost exclusively during the summer monsoon season .

Approx. 98% of the population are Hindus ; almost 2% are Muslims . The male part of the population exceeds the female population by approx. 12%. They mostly speak Rajasthani and Hindi .
economy
The villagers live - largely self-sufficient - almost exclusively from agriculture. In the town itself there are small traders, craftsmen and day laborers; small industries for the greater Delhi and Jaipur areas were established in the surrounding area. Because of the palace hotel, tourism also plays a certain role in the economic life of the small town.
Attractions
- On a nearly 500 m high mountain flank near the village is a former royal palace of a descendant of the Chauhan dynasty ; the fortress palace in the Indo-Islamic style , dating from the 15th to 18th centuries and rebuilt in the 1990s , now serves as a luxurious hotel complex.
- About 1 km from the palace hotel there is a stepwell (Rani ki Baoli) that is no more than 24 m deep .
