Nenad Peruničić ( Cyrillic Ненад Перуничић ; born May 1, 1971 in Pljevlja , Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian-Montenegrin / German handball trainer and handball player .
Career
Nenad Peruničić started with RK Jugović ; He received his first professional contract with RK Red Star Belgrade . In 1993 he moved to PSG-Asnières , but a year later he moved to Bidasoa Irún in the Spanish ASOBAL league . In 1995 he achieved his international breakthrough here: He won the EHF Champions League and was voted the best player in the ASOBAL league. Here he also got his nickname "El conquistador" (Eng. "The Conqueror"). He also won the 1996 Copa del Rey de Balonmano with the Basques and the 1997 European Cup Winners' Cup . After that, the 2.03-meter backcourt player moved to the German handball league at THW Kiel , where he won the 1998, 1999 and 2000 championships Pokal and the EHF Cup in 1998. In 2000 he moved into the final of the EHF Champions League again, but lost to FC Barcelona there . In 2001 he moved to league competitor SC Magdeburg Gladiators . With the Elbe cities he won the EHF Champions League and the EHF Club European Championship again in 2002 . In 2004 he played nine months for SG Wallau / Massenheim , after which he had a three-month interlude at al-Ahli SC in Qatar. Finally, Peruničić played another season for Pick Szeged in Hungary, where he won the Hungarian Cup. In the 2006/07 season he played - at the age of 36 - for FC Barcelona, where he again won the Copa del Rey de Balonmano. For fitness reasons he was actually only used in defense. In the summer of 2007, his contract with Barcelona was not renewed, so he joined the club Algeciras BM , where he played until November 2007. In the 2008/09 season he ran for the Montenegrin club MRK Budućnost Podgorica , then he ended his career.
Nenad Peruničić has played 141 international matches for the Serbian-Montenegrin and Yugoslav national teams. With the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, he won just as in the 1996 European Men's Handball Championship in Spain bronze as in the 1999 World Men's Handball Championship in Egypt. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he was fourth with Serbia-Montenegro. Because in 2002, Oleg Kuleschow and Grzegorz Tkaczyk , two foreigners played for the SC Magdeburg Gladiators, Peruničić has also had German citizenship since October 2002.
After his active career, he took over the coaching position of the Serbian club RK Roter Stern Belgrade in 2013 . Here he made his comeback as a player in April 2015. In 2019 he ended his activity at RK Red Star Belgrade. From 2018 to 2020 he coached the Serbian national team.
