Nesip Mustafa Merter

Nesip Mustafa Merter (born June 21, 1947 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish - Swiss psychiatrist and book author .

Life

Merter made his Abitur in 1969 at the Lemania High School in Lausanne . He then studied medicine and graduated as a doctor in 1975. Then he completed his military service as an officer in Ankara for 18 months . After his military service, he worked as an assistant doctor in Wesel for two years . He completed his psychiatric training at the University of Zurich and at the Burghölzli Psychiatric Hospital . In 1985 he wrote his dissertation, a long-term study on the reasons for discontinuation of the depot neuroleptic fluphanazine decanoate .

Merter became known in Turkey for his theses on psychotherapy . His therapy, in which he allows elements of Sufism to flow, is a variety of transpersonal psychology . He establishes a connection between psychotherapy and Arabic scriptures, the Koran , the Hadisi şerif , Mesnevi and Ibn Arabi . He is regularly invited to psychological topics in television shows.

Merter is the founder and president of the Turkish Transpersonal Psychology Association, Benötesi Psikolojisi Derneği. The Bodrum Health Foundation was co-founded by Merter. Merter is also a member of a Turkish aid organization for Africa, the Volunteers of Turkey, together with his son Tahsin Can Merter and his daughter .

Trivia

Nesip Mustafa Merter is a grandson of the Turkish resistance fighter Ahmet Muhtar Merter and the father of the actress Selma Merter .
