history

The Nettebad was opened in 1883 as one of the first public bathing establishments in Osnabrück as a river swimming pool on the Nette , after which it is also named. After the closure of several swimming pools in Osnabrück due to the Second World War, the city council decided in 1965 to build a new indoor swimming pool on the Nette. Construction began in 1971 and opened in 1973.

To implement the Osnabrück pool concept with only three public swimming pools in the future ( Moskaubad , Nettebad, Schinkelbad), the city council decided again in 2001 to rebuild the Nettebad. Between 2002 and 2005 it was built as a modern sports and leisure pool.

Since it was reopened in 2005, the Nettebad has been steadily expanded, so in 2011 the turbo water slide Sloop was put into operation after the slide tower was increased . 2012, on a sample hole for geothermal below the Nettebads a warm 20 ° C in 360 meters depth brine water stream found. The flow rate is approximately 100 cubic meters per hour. Although the brine is qualitatively unsuitable for bathing, after a conversion of the heating technology, 60% of the heat requirement of the nett bath is now covered by geothermal energy using heat exchangers. In 2014, a fitness club was opened in an extension at the Nettebad. In 2016, another water slide, the Twist funnel slide, was built and opened . Between March 2016 and March 2017, the Nettedrom indoor electric go- kart track was built by the Stadtwerke on an open space west of the pool and has since been marketed together with the Nettebad. The outdoor pool for non-swimmers, which dates back to 1973, was reduced in size in 2017 and added a water-splash area for children.
