Neu-Fünfhaus is a district of Fünfhaus in Vienna . It was created in the 1870s when, after the construction of the Westbahn, parts of the Schmelz north of the railway line were devoted to urban housing. In contrast to the historically "grown" streets of the town center with its winding alleys, Neu-Fünfhaus has a grid floor plan made up of parallel streets. In 1911, the military released another ten hectares, i.e. one fifth, of the parade field for building. Construction of the first house - Hütteldorfer Straße 74 - began in October 1911. In 1912 the construction of the houses began, which today form the so-called Nibelungenviertel .
