history

The origin of the community Schmargendorf goes back to the end of the last century. Some members of the Schöneberg congregation, one of the four main congregations in Berlin, lived on Heiligendammer Strasse in Schmargendorf. They first visited the meeting places of the New Apostolic Church in Wilmersdorf . After the Second World War , around 120 brothers and sisters lived in Schmargendorf. For they have been since August 7, 1949 in the auditorium of the school in the Reichenhallerstraße held eight regular services. The community of Schmargendorf gathered there until their own church was inaugurated. Efforts were made to find a plot of land for their own church that should be centrally located and easily accessible, both on foot and by bus. In the autumn of 1969, a plot of land was acquired that is ideally located. In the meantime, appropriate renovations have been carried out and a small pipe organ (positive) has been installed. The Schmargendorf congregation, which has belonged to the Berlin-Southwest district of the New Apostolic Church Berlin-Brandenburg since October 2006 with ten other congregations , is to be merged with the Schöneberg congregation .
