Neudorf is a right side of the Elbe situated district of the Saxon community Zeithain in the district of Meissen .

geography

The village and later rural community was laid out after 1945 on the Zeithain military training area. It is located on the eastern edge of the Gohrischheide and is crossed by the federal highway 169. Streumen is east of Neudorf , Wülknitz to the northeast, and Lichtensee to the north. Zeithain is south of Neudorf and Glaubitz to the south-west .

history

400 meters from the water tower , which today belongs to Neudorf, was a former Wehrmacht object, the forest camp. Refugees and those who had been bombed out were housed in it. In addition to these, there were also applicants for future new farmer positions.

In order to create new living space and new farmer jobs for refugees, it was planned to build two new villages on the grounds of the Zeithain military training area in addition to the reconstruction of Adelsdorf as a youth village. For the name of the new village, a competition for name proposals was carried out in the district office of Großenhain and the winner of Neudorf was determined on December 30, 1945 from the 14 proposals submitted there.

On January 6, 1946, the foundation stone was laid for the first settlement site. The so-called "Reichsarbeitsdienst-Barracks" from the Jacobsthal prison camp and, on the other hand, bricks from the ruins of blown up ammunition buildings between Zeithain and the water tower, which were carted together by farmers with their teams and cleaned by women, were used as building materials. To build it up, numerous people were conscripted in the surrounding communities. Unfortunately, the transport capacity was not sufficient so that the building materials, which had been laboriously collected, could not be removed in time and were often confiscated by the occupying forces or stolen by unauthorized persons at night. On March 10, 1946, the first seven settler positions were ceremoniously handed over to the new settlers by District Administrator Oles, who handed over the deeds of ownership. Following the ceremonial handover of the farms, there was a raffle for the cattle, which could be made available to the farmers of Neudorf with the help of the whole country. The subjects of the raffle were horses, cows, pigs and sheep. In mid-April 1946, the planned building money was almost used up. The People's Solidarity helped out with an additional 250,000 RM in emergency aid.

In October 1946, the new Heideschule with 2 classrooms and 77 students was opened. In the meantime, next to the elementary school, there was a municipal administration, the post office. There was also a restaurant, a grocery store, a blacksmith, wheelwright, stove fitter, shoemaker and a gardening shop. At the end of 1947, 38 of the 50 planned settler and craftsman positions in Neudorf had been fully or partially completed and seven settler positions had started. After the territorial reform in 1952 , Neudorf was assigned to the Riesa district in the Dresden district . On August 26th 1952 the LPG type I "Progress" was founded by 5 farmers with the chairman Wilhelm Pech. The construction of the state-owned fattening farm in 1954 brought jobs and new living space. The pig fattening facility, built according to the latest Soviet experience, had a capacity of 1,250 pigs. The remaining farmers in Neudorf joined forces on November 23, 1957 to form the "LPG Vorwärts" TYP III. The fertility of the fields slowly increased as pig manure was spread from the pig fattening facility. In the following years the Neudorfer LPGs were merged with the Streumener LPG. In 1970 the place was incorporated into Zeithain. After the German reunification , Neudorf came to the re-established Free State of Saxony. The following regional reforms in Saxony assigned the district to the Riesa-Großenhain district in 1994 and to the Meißen district in 2008. In the same year a new development plan was passed, which cleared the way for 51 new plots of 1000 square meters each, on which new houses will be built. Neudorf's population will continue to grow.
