geology

history
The castle Neuenahr at the summit, the Count Otto had built of Neuenahr in the 13th century on the mountain, was destroyed in 1372 in a feud at the direction of the Cologne archbishop Friedrich von Saarwerden civil shooters from Ahrweiler. After the male line of the counts died out, robber barons had established themselves there. A round observation tower made of reinforced concrete was built on the castle grounds in 1972. There is also a modern Eifelverein pavilion.
