Neuhegi is the official name of an urban development area in the Oberwinterthur district of the city of Winterthur . The area comprises parts of the existing quarters Grüze and Hegi and lies between the railway lines Winterthur- Frauenfeld and Winterthur- Wil . In the north the Eulach forms the border of Neuhegi. The name Neuhegi for the development area was decreed in 2009 by the city council of Winterthur.

General

The Neuhegi area is one of the most important urban development areas in the Canton of Zurich . In the final stage, Neuhegi will offer space for around 4,000 residents and 6,000 jobs. International high-tech companies are already based in Neuhegi . Several large residential construction projects have been implemented, including the first zero-energy residential development in Switzerland. A newly created city park is available to residents for leisure activities. In the long term, the city authorities expect a second city center for Winterthur to develop in Neuhegi (so-called "bipolar city").

history

With the abandonment of the Oberwinterthur production site by Sulzer AG , a large area in the east of the city of Winterthur became an urban development area. Sulzer AG initially put its industrial site up for sale under the name Sulzerpark . In 2010, the Implenia construction group bought all of the sites that had not yet been sold from Sulzer AG for CHF 81.2 million.

The city authorities of Winterthur are strongly committed to sustainable development in the Neuhegi area. In 2001 a master plan for Oberwinterthur was drawn up and in 2007 the city council presented the Oberwinterthur development strategy , which was developed in cooperation with the KCAP office . In the years 2008/2009 the city council revised the master plan from 2001 to a new master plan Neuhegi .

In August 2010, the first two construction phases were completed and the park was inaugurated with a neighborhood festival. The fourth and final construction phase was completed in summer 2019.

Hall 710

Hall 710

The former Sulzer industrial hall 710 is a testament to Neuhegi's industrial past. It has been owned by the city of Winterthur since 2007. Hall 710 is located directly at Eulachpark and is used as an event location. The hall was only slightly changed structurally and has retained its industrial character.
