geography

Neukirch-Egnach station

Neukirch is located at the intersection of the Arbon - Amriswil and Romanshorn - St. Gallen roads and, together with the village of Egnach, has the Neukirch-Egnach train station on the Romanshorn − St. Gallen on the Southeast Railway .

history

Neukirch in 1923

In 1727, the mostly Reformed inhabitants of Egnach founded a parish and had a church built in Mosershaus, today's Neukirch. For a long time the church and the “Traube” inn stood alone at the intersection. In the course of time, more houses were grouped there, so that in 1802 13 buildings were known around the church. In the same year schoolmaster Abraham Kreis set up a school in Mosershaus. In his self-written arithmetic teaching aid, he named the school Neukirch for the first time . Gradually, this name officially established itself for the village.

In 1910 the Bodensee-Toggenburg Railway was built , which connects Neukirch-Egnach with Romanshorn and St. Gallen.

Attractions

The Protestant church, built in 1727 by Teufen's master builder and foreman Jakob Grubenmann , received its first organ in 1804. In 1964/1965 the church underwent an interior and exterior renovation and received a new organ.

The rectory is a stately timber frame from 1728/1729.
