nature

Near Neutras there are some remarkable mountains, caves and rocks, some of which are designated as geotopes .

Neutras rocks

The Neutras rock ( 583  m above sea  level ) rises above the place . The rock area from Frankendolomit ( Malm ) offers a good view of the surrounding Kuppenalb. On the north side of the rock is the Neutra Cave, which is around 15 meters long. This crevasse cave is also called the “begging kitchen” and is registered in the Franconian Alb cave cadastre (HFA) as A 89. In the entrance area there is a terminal block and two open openings. The Neutrasfelsen is designated by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment as geotope 371R053, a natural monument and a soil monument D-3-6435-0064.

Starenfels

On the north side of the ( 575  m above sea  level ) high Starenberg are the rock faces of the Starenfels. The approximately 20 meter long Starenfels cave opens into the rock face. The crevasse is also called the "Green Grotto". In the almost unadorned cave stone and bone tools, bronzes and ceramics from the Neolithic, the Bronze Age, the Urnfield Age and the Late Hallstatt Age were found. It is designated as a natural monument and as a ground monument D-3-6435-0059.

Bodenberg cave

The Bodenberg cave, which is around 20 meters long, is located on the northeast slope of the Bodenberg ( 578  m above sea  level ). The crevasse is up to three meters high and up to 3.5 meters wide. It is partly heavily sintered and registered in the HFA as A 90. Because of the finds of fossil fauna remains, bear cuts on broken blocks and a stone ax find on the slope, the cave was designated as a ground monument D-3-6435-0058.

Dürrnberg caves

At the ( 550  m above sea  level ) high Dürrnberg there are several smaller caves. The small caves up to ten meters long are registered in the HFA as A 161 a / b / c / d. Due to finds of human skeletal remains and prehistoric finds from the Hallstatt period, they were designated as ground monument D-3-6435-0063.

The caves can be easily reached on foot via the 15 kilometer long cave hiking trail.
