history

The territory of the Principality of Sulzbach and the Landgraviate of Leuchtenberg

At the end of the Holy Roman Empire , Penzenhof formed part of the Sulzbach court box office , which belonged to the Duchy of Sulzbach in Wittelsbach . As a result of the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , with the second municipal edict in 1818 , Penzenhof became part of the independent rural community of Etzelwang, which also included the villages of Bürtel , Gerhardsberg , Hauseck , Lehendorf , Lehenhammer , Neutras , Schmidtstadt and Ziegelhütten . Only a little later, however, the community Etzelwang was dissolved again in 1820/21 and from this (with the exception of Etzelwang and Ziegelhütten) the new rural community Schmidtstadt was formed, which, however, had its community seat in Lehendorf. In the course of the communal territorial reform in Bavaria carried out in the 1970s , the municipality of Schmidtstadt (with the exception of Bürtel) was incorporated into the municipality of Neidstein in 1978 , which was renamed the municipality of Etzelwang in 1983 according to the largest district. In 2017 Penzenhof had 25 residents.

traffic

The connection to the public road network is established by the district road AS 38 , which comes from the west-south-west of Lehendorf and runs through the town and continues in a north-easterly direction to Etzelwang.
