Purkstal tower hill

The hamlet of Bürtel is one of 22 districts of Pommelsbrunn in the district of Nürnberger Land . The place is located in the north of the municipality on a plateau around 540 meters above sea level.
history
In the Bavarian hall book from around 1275 the place is referred to as "Purator". The place name changed over the centuries from “Burgtor” to “Pürckthal” to “Pürtel” and probably goes back to the word Burgstall . In fact, about 500 meters after leaving Bürtel there is a castle stable on the local road to Heuchling . This complex, called the Purkstal tower hill , now only consists of a difficult-to-see tower hill. The hill was damaged during the construction of the local road. Who on these discovered only in 2006 Turmhügelburg sat is unknown, it is a document not mentioned. Presumably it was the seat of ministerials of the Reicheneck taverns from the nearby Reicheneck Castle .
Around 1275 Bürtel belonged to the possessions of the Bergen monastery near Neuburg an der Donau . Between 1504 and 1806 one part of the place belonged to the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg and the other part to Baiern-Pfalz. Bürtel then belonged to the municipality of Etzelwang and from 1821 to the municipality of Schmidtstadt in the Upper Palatinate . When the parish of Pommelsbrunn was established in 1526, Bürtel was added to the district. Since the major regional reform in Bavaria in the 1970s, Bürtel has also belonged politically to Pommelsbrunn and thus to Middle Franconia .
