The hamlet of Appelsberg is located in the district of Nürnberger Land in the state of Bavaria and is one of 22 districts of the municipality of Pommelsbrunn . The place is on the road from Pommelsbrunn to Heuchling . Shortly after leaving the forest on the road to Heuchling, the largely unpaved path turns right to Appelsberg. It is assumed that the place must have been the mountain settlement of an Autbold, Appelt or Appold. Appel / Apel was a popular short form of Albrecht in Franconia around 1200/1400 . Historical sources show that the hamlet existed at least before 1411, but possibly as early as 1260/1270.
