The village of Mittelburg is one of 22 districts of the large community of Pommelsbrunn in the district of Nürnberger Land in Middle Franconia .

geography

The village of Mittelburg is located on a plateau in the Hartmannshof - Waizenfeld - Aicha - Förrenbach - Arzlohe road network , about nine kilometers southeast of Hersbruck .

history

The region was already settled in the third millennium BC by people of the Cord Ceramic Culture and later by the Celts . The finds, especially on the Hochberg, point to this. The forerunner of today's settlement emerged late in the course of land development and the colonization of marginal land in the 10th to 13th centuries. The village was in the area of the Hersbruck Care Office . This was probably already in the possession of the Bavarian dukes in the 7th and 8th centuries, later it was under the supervision of the Bamberg monastery in Bergen and from 1103 that of the Upper Palatinate Counts of Sulzbach . The Hohenstaufers followed in 1180. From the 13th to the 15th century, Mittelburg belonged to the Reicheneck nursing office . The manorial rule of the Schenken von Reicheneck (Reichsministeriale) came to the Wittelsbach dukes in the 15th century and to the imperial city of Nuremberg in 1505 . In 1550, the Hersbruck Care Office noted eight rural properties, i.e. H. a farm, five estates and two estates, around 1800 it had nine estates, of which seven estates, one estates and the community pastor's house. In 1806 the imperial city of Nuremberg and its territories passed to the Kingdom of Bavaria . Mittelburg came to the municipality of Arzlohe, with this on January 1, 1972 to the municipality of Hartmannshof and with this in turn on January 1, 1977 to the municipality of Pommelsbrunn. In 1987 Mittelburg had 15 residential buildings.

economy

In Mittelburg there are some farms but no industry, no shops and, since 2020, no more inns.
