Christopher Nicholas Parsons CBE (born October 10, 1923 in Grantham , Lincolnshire , † January 28, 2020 in Aylesbury , Buckinghamshire ) was a British actor and presenter .

Life

Parsons grew up the middle of three children of a doctor. In his youth he suffered from stuttering and dyslexia . He received his education at St Paul's School in London . After that he took at the behest of his parents a place on a ship shipyard in Scotland Clydebank on. In addition to his work, he attended the University of Glasgow , but without obtaining a degree. After the end of the Second World War , he began his acting career. He made his film debut in 1947 in Die Weber von Bankdam . In the 1950s Parsons gained notoriety among British television audiences through his collaboration with comedian Arthur Haynes , and later he had numerous guest appearances on the Benny Hill Show .

Among other things, he read the British ratings at the Grand Prix Eurovision between 1960 and 1963 . From 1967 he hosted the game show Just a Minute on BBC Radio 4 without interruption . Between 1994 and 1999 and in March and April 2012 on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the program, he also presented it on British television.

Parsons was married in 1995 for the second time, from the first marriage with the voice actress Denise Bryer he had two children.
