Nick Schneiders (born July 20, 1984 in Brackwede , Bielefeld ) is a former German basketball player who, after studying in the United States , played as a professional in the basketball league from 2010 . With a height of 2.21 m, Schneider was considered the longest Bundesliga player.

Career

Schneider started playing basketball at the DJK Grün-Weiß from Rheda when he was 19 . From 2005 to 2010 he played during his studies at the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg for the university team Spartans , who joined the Atlantic Sun Conference in NCAA Division I in 2007 from Division II . The team did not achieve any particular success within Division I. After completing his studies in 2010, Schneider got a three-year contract with the New York Phantoms from Braunschweig in the top German division. This team again qualified for the play-offs for the German championship in the basketball Bundesliga 2010/11 . They were eliminated in the first round against the eventual runners-up ALBA Berlin . In addition, they made it to the finals in the Beko BBL Cup 2011 , which was lost to the champions and defending cup champions Brose Baskets .

Also in the basketball Bundesliga 2011/12 , Schneider was able to move into the semi-finals of the Beko BBL Cup 2012 with the New York Phantoms . In the play-offs they were eliminated in the first round this time against the eventual runner-up Ratiopharm Ulm . After missing the play-offs in the basketball Bundesliga 2012/13 under the new coach Kostas Flevarakis , Schneiders could not agree on a contract extension with the Phantoms at the end of the season.

After a trial training session at the league competitor Eisbären from Bremerhaven , he finally got a contract that was initially limited to the end of the year. This contract was extended in December 2013 to the end of the 2014 season. Schneiders also played for the Eisbären Bremerhaven in the 2014/15 Bundesliga basketball season.

Nick Schneiders has been keeping fit with the Finke Baskets Paderborn since August 2015, where he made his debut against the Oettinger Rockets Gotha on November 6, 2015 . Until the end of the 2015/16 season, Schneiders played there without a contract in the 2nd basketball league and helped the Baskets stay up. He injured himself in one of the last games and then ended his career as a professional basketball player.
