Career

society

Mezquida, whose last name is also spelled Mesquida , began his career at Peñarol Montevideo , where he was used in the professional team for the first time in the 2008/09 season. The German Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 had a right of first refusal on the player who was considered an exceptional talent in Uruguay at the time. In March 2011, however, he joined the Norwegian club Brann Bergen on loan , where he made his debut on March 20, 2011 in the game against Rosenborg Trondheim . At the beginning of May 2011 he suffered a knee injury in a cup game, so that he could only play a few games in the Tippeligaen . In August 2011 he moved within the league - and again on loan - to Lillestrøm SK . With the Norwegians he only played one league game and returned to Peñarol in late January 2012, but was not used in the Primera División with the Aurinegros . Since March 15, 2012, he played in the Uruguayan Primera División for Centro Atlético Fénix . There he came in the Clausura of the 2011/12 season to eight league appearances, where he ran four times from the start. In the 2012/13 season he completed six top division games by the end of the first half of the season and scored one goal. In early March 2013, the player joined the second division Rampla Juniors on loan , for whom he played ten times in the Segunda División and scored two goals in the following period in the 2013/14 season. Other sources cite the stakes 24 games and seven hits during his entire time with the second division. Sources exist, according to which he returned to Fénix in the middle of the year. In any case, he was back at Fénix from the beginning of 2014. At the beginning of February 2014, he joined the Canadian franchise Vancouver Whitecaps - according to the Canadian club from Boston River . For the Canadians, according to the club, he played 73 league games (eight goals) in the MLS until his last appearance on July 23, 2017 (as of July 24, 2017). He also ran six times (no goal) in the CONCACAF Champions League , nine times (three goals) in the Canadian championship and once (no goal) for the second team in the USL. In 2015 he was Canadian champion with the team.
