After six changeable years between fighting against relegation and ultimately unsuccessful fight for promotion, he left Târgovişte in 1976 and took over FC Brăila . This parted with him a year later after the promotion to Divizia A was again unsuccessful. Tătaru moved to Flacăra Moreni in Divizia C , where he was promoted in 1979. After relegation a year later, he left Moreni and took over Petrolul Târgovişte before retiring in 1982.
