Nicolas Geremus

Nicolas Geremus (born Tramitz , * 1959 in Munich ) is a German violinist and first violinist with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra .

Education and family

Nicolas Tramitz received his first violin lessons at the age of six. In 1971 he was the first winner of the Jugend musiziert competition in Bavaria. After a guest study at the University of Music in Munich in 1976/77 , he studied from 1978 to 1987 at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Franz Samohyl and Gerhard Schulz ( Alban Berg Quartet ).

He comes from the Hörbiger family of actors and artists and is a grandson of Paul Hörbiger and brother of Christian Tramitz . He is married and has two sons. He has lived in Vienna since 1978.

Musical activities

Nicolas Geremus has been the first violinist with the Wiener Symphoniker since 1986 . From 1988 to 1990 he was a member of the Modern String Quartet Munich. Since 1996 he has been the first violinist of the Johann Strauss Quartet in Vienna. He is also a founding member and first concertmaster of the Ambassade Orchestra Vienna, which was founded in 1999 . He also performs with a jazz trio he founded, the "Niki Geremus Trio".
