Nicolas Gosse
Nicolas Louis François Gosse (born October 2, 1787 in Paris , † February 9, 1878 in Soncourt-sur-Marne , Haute-Marne department ) was a French history painter .
Gosse was a student of François-André Vincent at the École des Beaux-Arts , where he was trained in academic painting and in this way adorned several public buildings with decorative and monumental paintings.
Gosse was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1828 and an Officer of the Legion of Honor in 1870.
His most important works include the wall paintings in the church of St. Nicolas du Chardonnet: The Bishop of Lisieux protects the life of the Huguenots on Bartholomew's Night , and the three paintings in the Historical Museum at Versailles: Napoleon I receives Queen Luise in 1807 of Prussia in Tilsit , Napoleon and Alexander meeting in Erfurt and Louis Philippe proposes to his son, the Duke of Nemours, offered the crown of Belgium from .
