The Association of Lower Austrian Village and Urban Renewal - Association for State, Regional and Community Development is the central joint spatial planning organization of all municipalities in the Austrian state of Lower Austria .

History, organization and agendas

It came into being in 1984 with four communities as test communities. In 1992, after the successful start, urban renewal emerged as part of the largest citizens' initiative as the association calls itself today. In 2010, village renewal activities were implemented in 1341 locations.

The institution has a special position in Austria, Lower Austria is traditionally the trailblazer of regional development in Austria, and Lower Austria Village and Urban Renewal is the only so-called association, in all other countries the state government is directly responsible. With the creation of the NÖ.Regional.GmbH in 2015, a central organization for cooperation between the state and municipal levels was created: 51% of it is owned by the state government, and the association has a 19% stake, the rest are held by the five associations Main regions (the quarters) , these are made up of the municipalities and the municipal associations of the small regions .

The association is the operational organization, the association will continue to operate pro forma for a few years after the creation of the NÖ.Regional.GmbH: With the creation of the NÖ.Regional.GmbH in 2015, the association Regionalmanagement NÖ was dissolved, and the former association NÖ Dorf - and urban renewal as association for national, regional and community development the club northeast village and urban renewal affiliated.

The association is a non-profit, locally organized club . whose activity is non-partisan and not directed towards profit. In addition to representing the interests of its members, the municipalities and cities in Lower Austria, regarding village and urban renewal, municipality and regional development, the association offers help for self-help in the context of ecological, economic and social action. The cultural peculiarities and also the independence of the villages, communities, cities and regions as well as the personal responsibility of the population are the focus of the promotion of renewal and development processes. Members are exclusively municipalities and cities in Lower Austria.

The activity is divided into the three areas of village renewal, community21 and urban renewal . The first takes care of the rural communities , the third takes care of the urban communities , and the second takes care of the implementation of the concerns of the Europe-wide Local Agenda 21 . There is close cooperation with the state government,

and the initiatives We support Lower Austria and the Neighborhood Network . Today, more and more EU projects are being implemented.

At the state level, the association is under the direct care of the governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner .

The association has its headquarters in Hollabrunn and four district offices.
