Raúl de Tomás Gómez (born October 17, 1994 in Madrid ) is a Spanish football player in the position of a striker who has been under contract with Espanyol Barcelona since January 2020 .

Club career

In the club

Raúl de Tomás was born to a Dominican mother and a Spanish father on October 17, 1994 in Madrid and began his career at the Madrid youth club CD San ​​Roque EFF . At the age of nine, he moved to Real Madrid's junior academy , where he went through all teams from U-12 to A-youth. In the latter, he ended the 2011/12 season as the top scorer with a total of 31 goals.

In the summer of 2012, Raúl de Tomás was added to the squad of the second team Real Madrid Castilla , with whom he made his debut in the Segunda División on August 17 against Villarreal . On October 29, 2014, de Tomás made his debut in the first team when he was substituted on for Karim Benzema in the 76th minute of the 4-1 win against UE Cornellà in the Copa del Rey .

At the end of August 2015, de Tomás moved on loan to the second division club FC Córdoba until the end of the 2015/16 season . There he scored six goals in 24 league games.

In the summer of 2017, de Tomás initially returned to Madrid. On September 1, 2017, he moved to Rayo Vallecano on loan until the end of the 2017/18 season . For the 2018/19 season , de Tomás initially returned to Real Madrid. He extended his contract to June 30, 2023 and moved up to the first team. However, on August 24, 2018, he returned to Rayo Vallecano on loan until the end of the season. After 33 league games and 14 goals, he and the team ranked 20th and last in the table in the 2018/19 season and relegated to the Segunda División with the team .

After his return to Madrid, his move to reigning Portuguese champions Benfica Lisbon was announced on July 3, 2019 for a rumored transfer fee of 20 million euros .

In the national team

Raúl de Tomás denied with his country the qualification for the U-17 European Championship 2011 , where they failed in the elite round to England. With the U-18 he won the Copa del Atlántico in 2012 , an international tournament that takes place every winter.
