Niederdrees is a district of Rheinbach and at the same time a town in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

geography

The place is about 4.0 km northwest of the core city on the old Roman road from Niederzier to Kripp (today Bundesstraße 266 ), a section of the old military road from Aachen to Frankfurt. The route of the former Roman aqueduct from the Eifel to Cologne ran south of the village . Numerous finds in the area attest to the Roman settlement, parts of which are exhibited in Rheinbach.

history

The parish church of the village goes back to a chapel from the 13th century. Niederdrees was incorporated into the city of Rheinbach on August 1, 1969.
