history
Wormersdorf was first mentioned in 832 as Wormarstorp . It was a Franconian settlement in Swistgau . The name is derived from the personal name "Wurmmar". Archaeological finds also show that Wormerdorf was settled as early as the 9th century. During excavations, for example, a well was found that was partially filled with vessels, shards and iron tools that belong to the 9th century and which prove that a settlement already existed in Wormersdorf at that time. The beginnings of the Tomburg also date from this time .
Around 900 Hermann from the family of the Lorraine Count Palatine of the Ezzonen took his seat on the Tomburg. His son Ezzo married Mathilde, a daughter of Otto II , Holy Roman Emperor . The marriage resulted in ten children, including Richeza , who became Queen of Poland in 1025 . Richeza is said to have been born on the Tomburg.
Wormersdorf was incorporated into the city of Rheinbach on August 1, 1969. Up to this point in time, Klein Altendorf belonged to this village.
Culture
church
The Protestant Christians belong to the Evangelical Church Community of Meckenheim.
The Catholic parish of St. Martin Wormersdorf and the parishes of St. John the Baptist (Meckenheim) Meckenheim , St. Jakobus the Elder Ersdorf - Altendorf , St. Petrus Lüftelberg and St. Michael Merl form the Meckenheim parish community in the Meckenheim-Rheinbach deanery in the Archdiocese of Cologne . Today's parish church was consecrated in 1935 because the church in the Ipplendorf district (today "Ipplendorfer Church", consecrated in 1717) had become too small. In Wormersdorf between July 26, 1860 and April 1, 1962 there was a branch of the order community of poor servants of Jesus Christ (Dernbacher Sisters). They took care of the place in outpatient nursing and care for the elderly, they ran a kindergarten and a sewing school.

In Wormersdorf there is a four-group Catholic day-care facility for children and a Catholic primary school.
music
The oldest music association is the "Men's Singing Association Wormersdorf", which was founded in 1879.
The "Musikfreunde Fidelia Wormersdorf" have existed in Wormersdorf since 1923, initially founded as a drum corps and converted into a brass band in 1981. Today they mainly devote themselves to playing symphonic brass music.
The Fanfanrencorps of Landsknechte Wormersdorf has existed since 1951, and in 1986 the “Original Tomburg Musicians”, a brass band, were founded.
Others
In March 2018, a species protection tower was inaugurated on the outskirts of Wormersdorf Klein-Altendorf. This is a former transformer tower that belonged to the energy company Innogy (formerly RWE) and was no longer needed. With the handover of the building to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the commitment of the Naturschutzbund Deutschland (NABU Bonn) as well as many voluntary helpers and donors, the now inoperable building could be converted into a hostel for many endangered bird species, bats and insects. In times when z. If, for example, nesting sites and breeding grounds are constantly disappearing due to roof extensions and thermal insulation measures, the tower fulfills an important species protection function. The former task of the transformer tower station is being taken over by a new system, which is located directly next to it and is much smaller and more compact.
