The Low globe thistle ( Echinops humilis ) is a plant from the family of the daisy family (Asteraceae).

features

The Low globe thistle is a perennial , herbaceous plant that a Pleiokorm - rhizome develops and reaches stature heights between 5 and 20 cm. The lower leaves are pinnate or not divided. The stem leaves are roughly sawn to lobed and have a thorn tip. Their upper side is covered with hairy spider webs, the underside is white felt. The stem has one to three heads and is white wool. The collecting head has a diameter of 3 to 4 centimeters and is steel blue. The crown is pale blue.

The flowering period extends from August to September.

The lower spherical thistle occurs in the Altai and southern Mongolia on stony mountain steppes.

use

The low spherical thistle is rarely used as an ornamental plant for perennial beds, as a cut flower and for dry bouquets. It has been in culture since 1820 at the latest.
