Nierswalde is a district of the city of Goch in the Kleve district , North Rhine-Westphalia .
history
After the Second World War, Nierswalde was created together with Reichswalde (today the city of Kleve ) as a clearing settlement in the Reichswald in order to be able to assign a settlement area to those who were displaced from the former eastern regions . The settlement established in 1948 was named "Nierswalde" in 1952. Since mainly Protestants were settled in Nierswalde , a Protestant church was built here in 1956 , while Reichswalde is predominantly Catholic . A New Apostolic Church was built from 1969 to 1972 .
In the nearby Reichswald and in the vicinity of today's town of Nierswalde, the so-called battle in the Reichswald took place in February 1945 of the Second World War . After this battle, the Allies were able to build a bridgehead over the Rhine near Wesel and thus take the Ruhr area.
On July 1, 1969, Nierswalde was incorporated into Goch.
