Nieska is a district of the Saxon town of Gröditz in the district of Meißen . It is located about three kilometers northwest of Nauwalde near the border with Brandenburg . State road 89 runs through the village .

history

The street village on Gewannflur belonged to Grossenhain in 1406. The manorial rule was exercised by the Zabeltitz manor in 1552 , and Nieska was the district village in 1590. In 1764 the Zabeltitz manor was mentioned again as the owner of the manor. After 1764 the place belonged to the Grossenhain Office , before that the administration was in the meantime at the Zabeltitz Office . Between 1856 and 1875 Nieska belonged to the Grossenhain court office , and then to the head office of Großenhain . In 1900 the size of the town boundary was 412 hectares . In 1925, 215 Evangelical Lutheran citizens lived in Nieska. In 1952, Nieska became an independent municipality part of the Riesa district, which was formed from the administrative authorities . The independence of the place ended on January 1st, 1994, when Nieska, Spansberg and Nauwalde merged to form the new municipality of Nauwalde. In the same year, the district of Riesa became part of the newly formed district of Riesa-Großenhain , which on August 1, 2008 became part of the new district of Meißen formed by the district reform of Saxony in 2008 .

Since January 1st, 2013 Nieska belongs to the city of Gröditz.

Village church

There are several architectural monuments in Nieska, which are on the list of monuments of the State of Saxony:

→ The building, built in the middle of the 18th century in the Baroque style based on the model of the Dresden Frauenkirche, can be found in the center of the village with an adjoining cemetery . In the immediate vicinity there is also a memorial to the fallen in honor of the villagers of Nieskas who fell and went missing in the First and Second World War, which is also a listed building.
