Nigrin ( spelling NIGRIN ) is a brand for products in the field of car care. It has existed for over 100 years, originally for shoe and household care, and is one of the oldest car care brands in Germany. The chimney sweep has been the trademark since 1896 . Nigrin is a private label of MTS MarkenTechnikService GmbH & Co. KG . The Nigrin product range comprises around 400 products in 19 different categories.
history
In 1884 the Carl Friedrich Gentner company was founded in Göppingen . She manufactured products such as bleaching soda, caterpillar glue, snuff powder, pomade , detergents and starches. In 1896 the chimney sweep was chosen as a trademark and the brand name Nigrin was used for the first time. In 1901 the brand name Nigrin for leather care products is registered with the German Patent and Trademark Office . Three years later, in 1904, the chimney sweep was registered as a trademark. Up until the Second World War , a stilt-walker disguised as a chimney sweep and handing out small business gifts was an attraction in German schoolyards. In 1963, the first Nigrin car care range is introduced in Germany. From 1972 the distribution of the Nigrin car care products in the second distribution channel was taken over by Union Auto Zubehör GmbH & Co. KG in Landau . After the Nigrin-Werke Carl Gentner had to file for bankruptcy in 1973, Union Auto Zubehör GmbH & Co. KG took over the entire production rights, formulations and registered trademarks of all Nigrin products in 1974 and has been responsible for quality assurance and sales of Nigrin products ever since . In 1980 the first Nigrin car care series was introduced in Switzerland. In 1982 Union Auto Zubehör GmbH & Co. KG was renamed Inter-Union Technohandel GmbH, based in Landau in the Palatinate . In 1986, the first international Nigrin car care range was introduced in Austria and France. In 1992, Nigrin positioned itself on the German market as the first environmentally friendly car care product. In 2005, the NanoTec product series for the refinement of lacquer, glass and upholstery surfaces was introduced. In 2007, the Nigrin hybrid products for technical care were introduced. In 2008 the Evotec products were presented. Since 2011, Nigrin has been appearing on the market with the slogan "NIGRIN car care made easy". In 2018 the companies Inter-Union and SPA Systempartner merged to form the MTS-Group (MarkenTechnikService GmbH & Co KG). The group is known beyond Nigrin for the brands FISCHER Fahrrad, uniTEC and cartrend. Licensed and sales brands such as AEG , Bosch, Caramba, CAT, Goodyear , Michelin , Mobil, Osram and Philips are also part of the brand portfolio. The German Railroad, Inc. currently holds a majority stake in the joint venture . In 2018, Nigrin won the Theo Award in the care products category in the joint readers' choice of the car magazines Tuning and VW Speed.
Sponsorship
In addition to the sale of car care products, Nigrin is also involved in sports sponsorship. Well-known partners include the German men 's national handball team , the men's four-man and women's two-man bobsleigh teams from Austria and the German FIS World Cup ski jumping in Titisee-Neustadt and Willingen . Since 2018, the brand has also been a premium partner of the bobsleigh and sledge association for Germany .
In the motorsport sector, Nigrin is a sponsor of the CarTech- Porsche team and the racing driver Lukas Schreier in the Porsche Sports Cup . In addition, the brand supports the Milltek Racing Team in the VLN endurance championship at the Nürburgring .
