Niklas Roest (born August 3, 1986 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian ice hockey player who has been under contract with BIK Karlskoga in the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan since 2013 .
Career
Roest began his career in the youth department of Manglerud Star and made his debut in the 2004/05 season in the second-class 1st division , where he and his teammate Martin Røymark were among the best scorers in his age group with 19 points from 31 games . In the following season he made his professional debut in the UPC-ligaen , today's GET-ligaen, and scored 16 points for Manglerud in his rookie season . After his club's relegation again, the winger then moved to the Sparta Warriors and earned a permanent place in the squad in the highest Norwegian league. In the 2008/09 season he reached the final of the play-offs for the first time with the Warriors . Two years later he became Norwegian champions with the team in the 2010/11 season .
In April 2013, after seven years with the Sparta Warriors, Roest moved to the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan and signed a one-year contract with BIK Karlskoga .
International
Niklas Roest represented Norway for the first time at the U20 Junior World Cup in 2006 , but could not prevent the team from relegating from the top division there.
The winger made his debut for the men's national team in the 2011/12 season, before being nominated for an international tournament for the first time at the 2013 World Cup . At the 2014 Winter Olympics , he was also in the squad of the Norwegian team and remained unpunished in three games.
