Nikolai Christowitsch Rosow ( Russian: Николай Христович Розов ; born February 20, 1938 in Moscow ) is a Russian mathematician and university professor .

Life

Rosow studied at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Lomonossow University Moscow (MGU) with graduation in 1958. This was followed by an apprenticeship with Yevgeny Frolowitsch Mishchenko . Rosow became an assistant at the chair for differential equations and taught at the MGU from 1961. In 1964 he defended his candidate dissertation in physical-mathematical sciences . In 1966 he became a lecturer and vice dean (until 1970) of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at the MGU.

1968–1994 Rosow was a leading research assistant in the department of mathematics of the All Union Institute for Scientific and Technical Informatics (WINITI) of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR). Since 1978, together with Vladimir Alexandrowitsch Kondratjew and Wladimir Michailowitsch Millionschtschikow (son Mikhail Dmitrijewitsch Millionschtschikows ), he has led the seminar for differential equation theory at the MGU's chair for differential equations. In 1983 he defended his doctoral thesis in physical-mathematical sciences . In 1989 he was appointed professor at the chair for differential equations at the MGU.

Rosow's main focus was on ordinary and partial differential equations as well as the theory of control technology . He developed an asymptotic theory of periodic differential equation solutions with continuous and discontinuous domains. His co-authors were Yevgeny Frolowitsch Mishchenko and AJ Kolessow.

Rosow has been the dean and organizer of the MGU Faculty of Education since 1997 and heads the Faculty's chair for educational technologies. Since 2000 he has led the seminar for pedagogy, teaching methodology and problems of education. He is a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Education.
