Nikolai Rohde Laursen (born February 19, 1998 ) is a Danish football player on the position of a striker and winger . He has been in the professional squad of Dutch first division club PSV Eindhoven since 2015 , after making his professional debut at Brøndby IF in the Danish Super League .

Club career

Laursen started playing football in 2004 at the age of six at Brøndby IF and went through all youth division up to U17. Before the 2014/15 season, he moved up directly to the professional team. The fast and technically strong 10 , who can also be used as an attacker, signed a two-year contract on July 9, 2014. He made his competitive debut for the professional team on October 29, 2014 in a 3-1 win over Fremad Amager in the third round of the 2014/15 Danish Cup . He was used in the 75th minute of the game by coach Thomas Frank for the four years older Christian Nørgaard . On April 26, 2015 Laursen came on as a substitute in the 84th minute in a 4-0 win over FC Vestsjælland and scored the goal in the 89th minute. This made him the youngest scorer at 17 years and 66 days to score a goal for Brøndby in the Superliga. After that, he sat on the bench in five other league games until the end of the season, where he came to short appearances in two more matches and otherwise remained out of action. After this season Brøndby IF finished in third place behind FC Copenhagen (runners-up) and FC Midtjylland (champions) and was therefore eligible for the first qualifying round of the 2015/16 UEFA Europa League .

A year later, the 17-year-old moved to Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven , with whom he signed a three-year contract. If Laursen had not found a job with PSV Eindhoven, a contract extension would have been in the room. Since then he has been on the reserve team Jong PSV and in the UEFA Youth League .

National team career

Laursen made his debut in a Danish national youth football team on October 8, 2013 in the Danish U16 national team against Austria. By early May 2014, he played a total of seven U16 international matches in which he scored four goals and in the UEFA Under-16 Development Tournament in St. George's Park National Football Center in Burton-upon-Trent . With the Danish U17 team , he finished third at the Nordic U17 Football Championship at the end of July 2014 and played three times in the qualification for the U17 European Championship 2015 at the end of September 2014 . In total, he completed five U17 internationals. In 2016 Laursen made eight appearances for the Danish U19 national team and two for the U20. On November 14, 2017, he made his debut for the Danish U21 national team in the 3-1 defeat in the European Championship qualifier in Poland and scored his first goal for this age group with the goal to the final score.
