Nikolaos Karelis ( Greek Νικόλαος Καρέλης , born February 24, 1992 in Heraklion , Greece ) is a Greek football player .
Career
society
Nikolaos Karelis began his career in Heraklion in the Ergotelis youth department . In the summer of 2007 he received a professional contract for the first team where he completed his first league game on the 30th and final day of the 2007/08 season in an encounter against Skoda Xanthi . The only 16-year-old Karelis thus became the youngest player to play a competitive game for Ergotelis.
After spending a year with Amkar Perm in Russia , Karelis returned to the Greek Super League in 2013 and signed a contract with Panathinaikos Athens . He played there for three years and then moved to KRC Genk in Belgium . He spent the 2018/19 season as a loan player at PAOK Thessaloniki and was able to celebrate the championship and cup victory with the club .
Since August 22, 2019 he has been under contract with the English second division club Brentford . In mid-October he tore in the home game against Millwall FC the cruciate ligament and falls from half a year.
National team
Karelis was a regular for the Greek U-21 national team . On October 11, 2014 Karelis made his debut in the men's national team of Greece and achieved the interim leadership of his team in the 1-1 away game in Finland with the first international goal of his career.
