Nikolaos "Nikos" Kleitos ( Greek Νικόλαος Κλείτος * 1929 in Serres , Central Macedonia ) is a Greek politician of the New Democracy (ND), a member of Parliament and from 1991 to 1992 was Minister of the Interior.
Life
Nikolaos "Nikos" Kleitos graduated from the Faculty of Law and Economics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki . He was elected member of parliament (Βουλ Mitglied των Ελλήνων ) for the first time in the election of November 17, 1974 for the Nea Dimokratia (ND) and represented the Serres constituency with brief interruptions until September 11, 1993 . After he was Vice Minister of the Interior between April 11, 1990 and August 8, 1991, he was appointed Minister of the Interior in Konstantinos Mitsotakis' cabinet on August 8, 1991 as successor to Sotirios Kouvelas and held this ministerial office until he was replaced by Ioannis Kefalogiannis on August 3 , 1991 December 1992. In 1993 he left the Nea Dimokratia and became a member of the nationalist political party Anixi , which the former ND politician and Foreign Minister Andonis Samaras had founded in June 1993 in a dispute over the name of Macedonia .
His daughter is the journalist Lina Kleitos.
