After leaving the order with papal approval, he became the last archivist of the Essen and Corvey monasteries .
At the beginning of the 19th century he became a pastor in his hometown in order to become briefly archivist of Wilhelm von Orange , the Prince of Fulda , very soon .
Considering a pension, he moved to Mainz, where he died in 1819.
