Nikolaus Nalbach was the son of City Governor Johann Nalbach and Maria Margarete Fischer from Koblenz. He studied for 7 years in Koblenz and 3 years in Trier . On April 5, 1794 he became a subdiac ( subdiac. Ad vicariam s. Cyriaci et Catharinae in colleg. S. Castoris Confluentes ), on June 14, 1794 a deacon and on August 3, 1794 he was appointed vicar in Koblenz ( s . Cyriaci et Catharinae ) consecrated by the local St. Castor monastery. From this he later received an annual pension of 299 francs. From 1794 he was chaplain for 4 years in Cochem , until 1801 he worked in Rockeskyll , then until 1803 pastor in Rüber , from December 25, 1803 he was the parish administrator in Hambuch . Then Landkern followed until 1815 and from April 28, 1815 until his death he worked as a pastor in Kaifenheim, where he had the parish church built at the age of 75. At his golden jubilee as a priest on August 3, 1844, he became a Knight of the Red Eagle Order. He received the medal on the same day from Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia. As a Carmelite Father, his brother Jakob was vicar in Koblenz in St. Kastor and died there on January 20, 1820.

During his long time as pastor in Kaifenheim, he expressed the wish in 1825 to include Roes from the parish of Forst in his parish association, since the people of this place would mostly attend the church in Kaifenheim anyway . However, the old regulation of 1802 remained. When the old parish church became more and more dilapidated, and as witnesses reported that the church was near to collapse, it was decided to build a new church under the direction of Pastor Nikolaus Nalbach. The architect Nebel proposed a cost of 9061 thalers, the foundation stone was laid on Easter Tuesday, April 14, 1841. Construction progressed well, but there was an accident on May 30, 1841 at around 11 o'clock when a scaffolding collapsed 5 men were carried away. Four of them lost their lives in the fall from a height of over 50 feet, one survived seriously injured.

After the construction of the new parish church was completed in the following year, Pastor Nalbach was able to make its benediction on November 3, 1842. The builder and architect received high praise, although the acoustics were criticized. After four years of worship in an emergency church, Pastor Nalbach was able to hold the long-awaited first mass in the new church on August 3, 1844. The population of Kaifenheim seemed to have been loyal to the church, since the pastor described the parishioners (1832) as “peace-loving and St. Mass diligently attending ”, also because one knew the Advent and Lenten devotions. Among the religious monuments in Kaifenheim is the cross of Pastor Nalbach , which used to be in the cemetery and is now on the road to Roes.
