Nikolaus van Bueren

Nikolaus van Bueren (* around 1380 - † May 16, 1445 ) was a master builder at Cologne Cathedral . His predecessor was Andreas von Everdingen . He appeared for the first time in 1413 as a lapicida (= stonemason). From 1424 he was named as a cathedral builder. In 1425 he acquired civil rights. In an arbitration of 1433 he was named as Claiws von Buere Werkmeister zerzyt zome doyme in Coelne . In the same year he married an Aleid; the marriage remained childless. In 1437 he hung the bells in the south tower, the tower height of which had reached 59 meters at the time. 1443 Guild letters for the stonemasons and carpenters at the cathedral: Determination of duties to the cathedral master craftsman Claes when an apprentice or master takes office. His successor as master builder Konrad Kuene van der Hallen († January 28, 1469) married Nikolaus van Bueren's niece Styngin. His nephew Johann van Bueren was a town architect and builder of the Gürzenich .
