Nils Antons (born September 17, 1979 in Düsseldorf , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a former German ice hockey player who was active for the Eisbären Berlin , Hamburg Freezers , Iserlohn Roosters and the Düsseldorfer EG in the German Ice Hockey League .

Career

Antons played for his hometown club Düsseldorfer EG until the age of 16, before he was selected in the second round of the CHL Import Draft in 1996 in 68th place by the Kamloops Blazers and then moved to North America. After two years with the Blazers in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League , he began studying science at the University of British Columbia and played for the local ice hockey team.

For the 2003/2004 season he returned to Germany and joined the Eisbären Berlin, with whom he only failed in the final at the Frankfurt Lions after taking first place in the main round in the playoffs . He spent the following season at the other club in the league, financed by Philip F. Anschutz , the Hamburg Freezers. At the beginning of the 2005/06 season he was back in North America to study again. But after Mark Etz left the Iserlohn Roosters, the Iserlohners asked Antons and from October 5, 2005 he played in the Sauerland, where his father ran up in the 1970s.

For the 2006/07 season he returned to DEG Metro Stars in Düsseldorf for a year. However, his contract was not renewed. Then Antons ended his career and devoted himself to his medical studies.
