Mani comes from the Diemtigtal in the canton of Bern and is a trained agricultural machinery mechanic . From November 2007 he took part in FIS races and national junior races, where he initially played mainly slalom and giant slalom . In February 2009 he was a participant in the European Youth Olympic Festival in Szczyrk , where he finished eighth in slalom. The first appearances in the European Cup followed in March of the same year. During the winter of 2010/11, he gradually began to specialize in the fast downhill and super-G disciplines, and when he took part in the Junior World Championships for the first time, he just missed winning a medal twice.
In the winter of 2011/12 Mani achieved the first top 10 placements in the European Cup, plus his first victory in an FIS race. In Roccaraso he won two medals at the Junior World Championships in 2012 ; Silver in the Super-G and bronze in the downhill. He made his World Cup debut on December 15, 2012 in the downhill from Val Gardena . Two weeks later, on December 29th, Mani finished in 27th place in the downhill run from Bormio and thus won the first World Cup points. The first podium in a European Cup downhill followed on January 10, 2013. At the Junior World Championships 2013 near the city of Québec , he won two more medals, the gold in the downhill and the silver in the Super-G. On December 22, 2013, he won a European Cup race for the first time, a descent in Madonna di Campiglio .
In the following years Mani could hardly ever classify himself in the World Cup points. An upward trend only started in winter 2016/17. In the descent from Val Gardena , he achieved his first top 10 result on December 17th, 2016 with place 9. On January 13, 2017, he finished 5th in the combination of Wengen, the best result of his career so far.
