Based on the LP Take me on a journey with Captain James, this recording was made in 1982 in a maritime setting from shed no. 14 of the Bremer Lagerhaus-Gesellschaft (BLG) in Bremen-Überseehafen. The title selection was based on submissions from over 500,000 listeners on Radio Luxembourg and readers of the BILD newspaper , who chose their favorite songs from 50 sea shanties. Besides the orchestra James Last, the speakers and artists involved were : Milva , Lolita , Kevin Johnson , Freddy Quinn , Finkwarder Speeldeel , Heinz Reincke , Elfriede Hable , Hendrik Meurkens and the Blauer Jungs marine choir from Bremerhaven .
