Nino Segarra

Nino Segarra (* 1954 in Maricao , Puerto Rico ) is a Puerto Rican salsa musician and composer.

Career

Nino Segarra was born into a family of musicians and learned to play instruments such as guitar and drums at an early age. Since 1976 he has played in local bands such as The Monarc and Mundo de Ponce. He made his first recordings with Mundo de Ponce. Segarra studied music at the Inter-American University in San German, Puerto Rico and graduated with a bachelor's degree . Segarra began his career with musical arrangements for theatrical performances and symphony orchestras. From 1988 he arranged pieces for Andy Montañez , Marvin Santiago , Eddie Santiago , Oscar D'León and many other salsa artists. He arranged and produced titles such as “Con la Musica por dentro”, “El Maestro”, “Solo por Tí”, “Loco de Amor” and “Porque te Amo” for himself. The latter became a number one hit with the Hispanic populations of the United States , Puerto Rico, and Latin America . In 1998 he took the album "Romantico Salsero", which was also a great success. In September 2001 Nino Segarra took part in a big salsa concert with Eddie Santiago, Willie Gonzales and David Pabón in Medellín / Colombia and in 2004 together with Pabón at the first International Cup of Salsa in Lima / Peru . There he sang his own composition Vivo por Ella, which he dedicated to Tito Puente . Further tours followed through Venezuela and the USA. Nino Segarra's cousin Eddie Segarra is also a musician in the salsa and merengue band Kinkajou in Dallas / Texas .
