Eddie Santiago , actually Eduardo Santiago Rodríguez (born August 18, 1955 in Toa Alta , Puerto Rico ), is a Puerto Rican salsa musician .

Career

Eddie Santiago was already enthusiastic about salsa music in his early youth. He later joined various bands such as Generación 2000, Orquesta La Potente, Orquesta Opus and Orquesta Saragüey. His career as a solo artist began in 1984 in Puerto Rico and other Latin American countries with hits such as Mía, Tú me quemas , Que Locura Enamorarme de Ti , Me Fallaste , Antidoto y Veneno , Jamás , Tú me Haces Falta , Todo empezó and his greatest success to date, Lluvia . In the 1980s and 1990s he was one of the most famous salsa artists in the United States and Europe . He's with Lalo Rodríguez , Pedro Conga , David Pabón , Galy Galiano , Luis Enrique and another one of the main representatives of Style "Salsa Romantica" and "Salsa Erótica".

Eddie Santiago initially worked with Sony Music and later had record deals with the labels Rodven Records, PolyGram , TH , EMI Latin and Musical Productions (MP). One of the tracks was the song Enamorado, inspired by Rafael Hernández . In 1999 his album Celebration: Epic Duets was released , which he recorded with other stars such as Victor Manuelle , Huey Dunbar and Elvis Crespo and was named one of the best recordings of 1999 by the National Foundation for Popular Culture Puerto Rico. Eddie Santiago has won several gold and platinum records , among other awards and prizes .

After a long break, he released his new album Después del Silencio in 2004 , which was nominated for the best salsa / merengue album at the 2006 Grammy Awards . His song Black is Black was included in the soundtrack of the film Nacho Libre .

Style and meaning

One of his most important songs is Lluvia , in which he sings of unfulfilled love and emotional coldness .
